Terms of Service
SUMMARY
These Terms govern your use of SnowDay Calculator. By using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using SnowDay Calculator ("the Service," "the Website," "we," "us," or "our"), including any features, tools, calculators, content, or information available on snowdaycalculator.cloud, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and the terms "you" and "your" refer to that organization. If you do not have such authority, or if you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the Service.
We reserve the right to revise these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after revisions are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. The most current version will always be available at snowdaycalculator.cloud/terms-of-service.
2. Description of the Service
SnowDay Calculator is a free, web-based probability estimation tool that predicts the likelihood of school closures due to winter weather conditions. Users may enter location data or weather parameters, including expected snowfall, temperature, wind speed, precipitation type, storm timing, and school type, and the Service will return a closure probability percentage based on a proprietary weighted algorithm.
The Service draws on weather data from publicly available sources, including the National Weather Service (NWS) and NOAA, to supplement manual inputs. Predictions are intended for informational and planning purposes only. They do not represent the official position of any school district, government agency, or weather authority. See our Disclaimer for the full scope of limitations on prediction accuracy.
We may, from time to time, introduce additional features, modify existing features, or discontinue certain features of the Service at our sole discretion and without notice.
3. Eligibility and Account-Free Access
SnowDay Calculator does not currently require users to create an account to access the core prediction tool. The Service is available to any user with internet access and a compatible web browser. By using the Service, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age. If you are under 13, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the Service for any user who violates these Terms, engages in abusive behavior, or misuses the Service in any way that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be harmful to the Service or its users.
4. Permitted and Prohibited Uses
4.1 Permitted Uses
You may use SnowDay Calculator for personal, non-commercial use to estimate the probability of school closures for planning purposes. You may share prediction results with friends, family, classmates, or colleagues for informational purposes. Educators and school staff may reference the Service as one tool among several when planning for inclement weather.
4.2 Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Service in any of the following ways:

6. User-Provided Inputs and Data
When you use the calculator, you provide weather-related inputs such as ZIP code or city, expected snowfall, temperature, wind speed, precipitation type, school type, storm timing, and day of week. This input data is used solely to generate your prediction and is not retained on our servers after your session ends.
The Service may use your browser's localStorage to temporarily save your most recent prediction inputs and any display preferences (such as light or dark mode) to improve your experience across sessions on the same device. This data is stored only on your local device and is never transmitted to our servers. You may clear this data at any time through your browser's settings.
You represent that any information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you will not submit false, misleading, or malicious data to the Service.
7. Third-Party Services and Weather Data
SnowDay Calculator integrates with or relies upon third-party data providers, including but not limited to the National Weather Service (NWS), NOAA, and weather API providers, to supplement user-provided inputs and generate predictions. These third-party services are subject to their own terms of service and privacy policies, which we do not control.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, availability, or timeliness of any data provided by third-party services. Service interruptions, API rate limits, data feed outages, or changes in third-party data formats may affect the availability or accuracy of predictions without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to maintain third-party integrations, but make no guarantee of their continuous availability.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SNOWDAY CALCULATOR EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- Warranties that predictions will be accurate, reliable, or match actual school closure outcomes
- Warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any weather data or third-party content
No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from SnowDay Calculator or through the Service shall create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SNOWDAY CALCULATOR, ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, PARTNERS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Loss of data or inability to access the Service
- Personal injury, property damage, or any harm arising from reliance on predictions
- Costs of substitute services
- Any claims arising from third-party data inaccuracies or service unavailability
This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory on which the claim is based (tort, contract, strict liability, or otherwise) and even if SnowDay Calculator has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed ten United States dollars (USD $10.00).
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SnowDay Calculator and its owners, officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of, or inability to use, the Service
- Your violation of any provision of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
- Any claim that the content or data you submitted caused damage to a third party
This indemnification obligation will survive the termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.
11. Children's Use
SnowDay Calculator is intended for general audiences and is commonly used by students, parents, and educators. The Service does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has submitted personal information through the Service, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to remove that information.
Children between 13 and 17 may use the Service with parental awareness and consent. We encourage parents and guardians to be involved in their children's online activities.
12. Modifications and Discontinuation
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or permanently discontinue the Service — or any feature, portion, or aspect thereof — at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including technical, operational, business, or legal reasons. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, price change, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
We may also impose limits on certain features or restrict access to portions of the Service without notice or liability.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. To the extent that state law applies, the laws of the state in which the operator of the Service is domiciled shall govern.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Service shall first be subject to informal resolution. You agree to contact us in good faith to resolve any dispute before initiating formal legal proceedings. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally within thirty (30) days of notice, it may be submitted to binding arbitration or resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction in the United States.
You agree to bring any claim arising from the Service on an individual basis only, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative action.
14. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed from the Terms if modification is not possible. The remaining provisions of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Disclaimer published on this website, constitute the entire agreement between you and SnowDay Calculator with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements, communications, and understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter herein.
15. Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will only be effective if it is in writing and signed by an authorized representative of SnowDay Calculator.
16. Contact Information
If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback regarding these Terms of Service, please contact us through the Contact Us page available on the SnowDay Calculator website. We aim to respond to all substantive inquiries within a reasonable timeframe.
